Our commitment
At ENC, we believe that progress in navigation also means navigating responsibly for people, for society, and for our planet. While our primary focus remains on advancing positioning, navigation and timing technologies, we are equally committed to gradually integrating sustainability and inclusion into the way we design and deliver our conference.
Sustainability
Hosting a conference inevitably has an environmental impact, but every step counts towards reducing it. ENC encourages participants, partners and suppliers to make conscious choices that support a more sustainable event.
ENC strongly encourages attendees and exhibitors to:
- travel by train, bus, metro, or bicycle to and within Vienna when possible.
- book eco-friendly accommodation near the congress centre and accessible by public transport.
- bring a reusable water bottle and coffee cup.
- use the online version of the programme, rather than printing it.
- avoid distributing printed materials such as flyers.
- reduce waste and avoid single-use items wherever possible.
- separate waste.
In addition, participants are asked during registration how far and by which means of transport they travel to the conference, to calculate total emissions.
Next to that, ENC 2026’s Conference Secretariat, Congress by design, is a professional conference organiser committed to long-term sustainable growth. Their ambition is to organise all conferences 100% climate-neutral by 2030, through continuous CO₂ reduction and offsetting via certified reforestation projects. Read more about Congress by design’s sustainability approach.
The conference venue of ENC 2026, the Austria Center Vienna, shares this commitment. It is a certified green meeting venue, recognised for its advanced energy efficiency, regional and seasonal catering, and waste reduction policies. The centre’s heat recovery technology reduces energy use by 90%, while surplus heat from the air conditioning system supplies heating to 2,000 Vienna households.
Together, we aim to make ENC 2026 a responsible and environmentally conscious event.
Inclusion
Accessibility
Accessibility is an integral part of inclusion. The Austria Center Vienna offers step-free access to all event spaces, wheelchair-accessible parking and restrooms, and tactile signage guiding visitors to main entrances. More detailed information on accessibility can be found on the Austria Center Vienna website. If you have any special needs during the conference, this can be indicated in the registration process.
Diversity
Diversity is essential to progress and innovation. ENC welcomes participants from all backgrounds, professions and disciplines, from academia, industry, and government alike. We value an environment where all voices are heard, where collaboration thrives, and where everyone feels welcome to contribute to the future of sustainable PNT.
